The story

The brief

Prove that a content asset can be built at volume without reading like the auto-generated filler that has flooded the web. The site had to cover houseplant care end to end (care, troubleshooting, plant guides, wellbeing), feel like it was written by someone who actually keeps plants alive, and grow steadily without each new batch becoming a manual slog.

How the pipeline works

Each batch runs the same path: a scout step expands seed topics through Google autocomplete into hundreds of long-tail queries, then a single model call clusters them against every existing article title so it proposes only genuine gaps. The chosen specs feed a generation script that writes each article, a hero step pulls one licensed Pexels photo per piece with attribution recorded, and an Astro build validates the frontmatter. The batch ships as a branch and a pull request. Adding twelve well-researched articles is a short, repeatable run rather than a week of writing.

Built so the writing does not sound like AI

The voice is fixed in the pipeline, not left to chance. Practical, calm, direct, addressing the reader as "you", British and Commonwealth spelling, ranked lists with bold lead-ins, and a closing bottom-line section on every article. Crucially, every generated string is run through a dash-stripping pass because the em dash is one of the clearest AI tells, and where a popular myth or marketing claim exists the article states the honest reality instead of repeating it. The result reads like a person who has actually killed and revived a few plants.

Built for search and AI citation

Content is organised into four fixed pillars (plant care, troubleshooting, plant guides, wellbeing) so the site reads as a coherent topical authority rather than a pile of posts. Roundup articles emit ItemList structured data, every guide cross-links to the related plant and care pages so readers (and crawlers) stay inside the site, and the static Astro build keeps pages fast and clean for both Google and AI search engines.

What's next

Continued batch expansion into the remaining content gaps (propagation, tier-two care and troubleshooting), and monetisation through display ads and affiliate links once traffic justifies it. The pipeline is the real product here: the same machine can be pointed at the next niche.
